The engineers at Dürr Dental have set themselves the goal of making the new Tornado significantly more durable than its predecessors. The success of this is reflected, for example, in the following statistic: With the new Tornado, the piston sleeve (an absolutely essential compressor component) only needs to be replaced after ten years instead of five. This corresponds to a 100 percent extension of the maintenance interval. This figure points to a compressor that was deliberately designed for the long run.

Yet the core of the optimizations concerns the cooling concept. It ranges from a more powerful fan via the redesigned cylinders and other internal components to the entire airflow system. The result is a better cooling of the aggregates. This leads to less wear and tear, which in turn leads to more durable compressors. As a positive side effect of this construction, the performance of the compressor is enhanced resulting in a higher delivery rate compared to its predecessors.

The new Tornado also relies on proven components including the established membrane drying system having a 100 % duty cycle. The system does not require any interruptions for regeneration or even replacement of drying agents. In combination with a three-stage filter system and an oil-free compression the new Tornado steadily delivers dry, oil-free and hygienic compressed air, thus protecting both the equipment (e.g. corrosion prevention for the dental unit air motors) and the treatment results (e.g. effective adhesive bonding, adequate retention pattern, keeping away harmful germs).
